Terms of Service

Last updated: July 15, 2026

These terms cover your use of the Tempered application and this website. Tempered is early software in active development. By using it, you agree to what's below. If you don't agree, please don't use it.

Beta software, provided as-is

Tempered is currently in beta and provided "as is," without warranties of any kind. We work hard to make every change safe and reversible, but we cannot guarantee the software is free of bugs or suitable for every system. To the fullest extent allowed by law, Tempered and its creators are not liable for any damages arising from use of the software.

You consent to every change

Tempered never modifies your system without your explicit action. Each optimization states what it does, shows its current state, and can be reverted from the Undo Center. You are responsible for reviewing and approving the changes you apply. We recommend keeping a system restore point, which Tempered offers to create before batch changes. This also covers the optional "Let the advisor run commands" setting (off by default): if you turn it on, you are responsible for reviewing and approving each command the AI advisor proposes before it runs, the same as any other action.

What Tempered will not do

These are hard limits in the product, not just promises:

Plans and payments

A free tier is available at no cost. Paid plans (Torque and Torque Max) are recurring subscriptions billed through Stripe, either monthly or at a discounted rate billed annually — current pricing is shown at checkout and on the pricing section of the site. Subscriptions renew automatically at the end of each billing period until cancelled. You can manage or cancel your subscription at any time through Stripe's Customer Portal (Settings → Account in the app); cancelling stops future renewals but does not refund the current billing period. Checkout does not require signing in first — Stripe collects your email directly, and your plan is matched to your account by that email once you do sign in. Tempered never sees or stores your card details.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms as Tempered evolves. Material changes will be reflected by the date at the top of this page. Continued use after an update means you accept the revised terms.
