Built by one person who got tired of snake oil.

Tempered is made by Ian Jackson, an independent developer in Houston, Texas. The app and its installer are code-signed in that name — Windows shows Verified publisher: Ian Jackson when you install it — so the person responsible for what runs on your PC is not hidden behind a brand. The business behind Tempered is Tempered Software LLC, a Texas company Ian formed in September 2026 and still runs on his own. It is the party you contract with when you use the app or subscribe. The work, and the name on the installer, are his.

02 · Why I built this

Every optimizer I tried lied to me a little.

I kept installing PC optimizers on my own gaming machine and getting the same thing: a red number of "issues found," a progress bar, and no idea what had actually changed. Some of them cleaned the registry, which does nothing. Some quietly disabled services I needed. None of them would tell me what they did in plain language, and none of them could put it back.

So I built the one I wanted. Tempered reads the system, explains what it sees, proposes one measured change at a time, and waits for you to say yes. Every change is logged with its old value, its new value, and a revert button. If nothing is worth changing, it says so — an empty screen is a good result, not a failed sale.

It runs no kernel drivers, injects nothing into games, and never cleans the registry. I sign every build under my own name because I'd want to know who made the thing that's reading my PC. If something in it is wrong, tell me: [email protected] reaches me directly.

03 · How it stays honest

The rules the app is held to.

  • Nothing changes without your approval. Reversible changes revert from the Undo Center, and one-way actions are logged as one-way
  • Every claim is a measurement — where it says something improved, it shows the number
  • No registry cleaning, no kernel drivers, no process injection, no game-memory access
  • The AI sees hardware specs, metric numbers, and process names — never your files or personal data, and you can preview the exact payload first
  • Code-signed releases, signature-verified updates that install when you click or when you next quit
